I have been caught in innumerable traffic jams in Gurgaon, either near Galleria or near IFFCO Chowk. Various other points on Gurgaon’s roads are clogged at almost all hours. I was reading this blog on Gurgaon.com about no traffic policeman present at this jam on the Delhi-Gurgaon ( http://www.gurgaon.com/content/?p=257 ) road and the thought occurred to me. Why do traffic jams occur? There was this news some time back that traffic jams occure due to bad roads, among other things. In Gurgaon, we also have a lack of policing on roads and elsewhere. No wonder then that with increasing traffic, Gurgaon is fast becoming a travelling nightmare. If somehow the Metro can be extended to most parts of Gurgaon instead of only the places it is touching, most of Gurgaon’s jams can be avoided. Maybe by the time that planning happens, the traffic would be even worse that even the Metro cannot help. Typical Gurgaon or shall we say India story.
